I am Annette Neff and have owned purebred dogs for the last 30 years. I fell in love with this breed because they are very adorable, versatile and smart! I also enjoy the fact that I can keep some extra ones around because they are small dogs.
I am a dog behaviorist and trainer and I own a dog training business in the Columbus, Ohio area, called Pet Behavior Associates. Though I owned purebreds for many years, I only met Border Terriers in the last 25 years.
I own ten Border Terriers. I am attached to my dogs and participate in many dog sports including conformation, obedience, rally, earthdog and agility. I keep my old dogs as they are my best friends.
I like the Border’s sense of humor, keen intelligence and versatility. Borders are also very loyal and affectionate. They enjoy people, especially children. They are a level headed breed. Most of all they are CUTE, resembling and acting like puppies much of their lives.
All puppies purchased from me have had two veterinary visits and are vaccinated at 6 and 9 weeks of age. I provide all buyers with the vaccination records and a microchip. Microchips are computerized chips that are inserted under the dog's skin between the shoulder blades. These provide dogs with permanent identification and may make the difference if a pet is lost or stolen. Most shelters and veterinarians have scanners that will identify the chip number and hence the owner. It is important to register the chip so that the owner can be contacted. I use my veterinarian as an alternate contact for my dogs.
All pets are sold on a spay/neuter contract. This is to protect my puppies from being exploited by people who may not be responsible breeders.
